The goal of formal and programme urbanistic-architectural design for the Republic Square with the Fish Market was to shape a contemporary and recognizable city whole that has a potential to become one of the city’s landmarks. The project treats the subject-area as a logical continuation of the zone of Novi Sad city center proper and integrates the newly formed areas with the pedestrian course of Zmaj Jovina Street so that they make up a unified and logical whole. For this reason, the basic architectural programme is expanded for the space of Information and Cultural Centre that by its contents becomes a part of the array of Novi Sad’s cultural offer.
